Broke the FSR

I did a training ride at the Watershed on Friday and only 6 miles into it I was day dreaming and crashed. Didn't think much of it but a mile or two later when I was stopped I noticed that my seat stay was bent. Had me pretty worried, but after talking w/ Germantown Cycles it seems that Specialized will sell me the seat stay for only $100. I was worried about a $300+ bill... Hopefully they will have the maroon color and I won't have to settle for black. Find out soon I guess.

Riding some the long weekend...

Night ride tonight at Little Bennett, should be beautiful with 60 degree weather and bright lights.

On Sunday, need to do a figure out where I am ride for the SM100 so I'm going to ride the Watershed till I drop. Hopefully 4-6 hours and 30-50 miles. Might have someone join me for the second half so that could be fun.

Hiking with the kids

Mom was gone the past weekend in Tampa for a party so I had the children all by myself. We had a good time and went for a hike at the C&O Canal at Riley's lock. We were going to go down the Seneca Greenway but the trail was narrow and Nick kept trying to pick the poison ivy. :)

Not a long hike but it was fun watching the kids try to step on ants or watch the nutty bird watchers...

Best part about it was that were both asleep in the car coming home and it wasn't even noon yet.

Road ride again

It will never replace mountain biking, but it was really cool to ride right from the driveway and go. The neighbor and I took off at 7:30ish on Sunday morning, did close to 25 miles at a leisurely pace talking the whole way and was home by 9am. I got the whole day to go and got my legs going some.

I need to try a 60-80 mile ride and see what it feels like...

Michaux Race - Maximus 2007

So I did my first race, a 25 miler at Michaux. That place is so rocky its incredible. It was a fun ride and I did well except for some monster cramps the last 8 or so miles. Really disappointing when you still feel strong, but you basically limp around trying not to set off the cramps. I was using Sports Legs and now realize that they have no Potassium which I think might be the issue. I'm going to try Hammer's electo caps which I hear good things about and see if it makes a difference. Got to figure out how to fix that or I'll never be able to finish a longer ride.

25 miles, 2700 feet of climbing and more rocks than you can imagine.

Trail: Susquehanna State Park; Harford County, MD

So I had a few hours while the padres watched the little ones so I had to stay close to Bel Air. Susquehanna Park was about 20 minutes away so I took a little ride. Wasn't really prepared for the hills, this place was either straight up or straight down 70% of the time. However... it has some really, really fun spots that I think if you figured out the right loop could be a challenging and fun trail. Got lost some because of constructions which wasn't really fun, but overall a reasonable place to go.
